Former Carolina Panther Reported Missing

UPDATE: Rod Smart has reportedly been found SAFE according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office

Lancaster County, S.C. Sheriff's Department is asking for help after reporting that former Carolina Panthers running back Torrold "Rod" Smart is missing.

“Family and deputies have concerns about his well-being and safety,” said Doug Barfield, spokesman for Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Smart, 42, was last seen June 12 at 10:30 a.m. in Indian Land, N.C. 

Smart was known for his XFL nickname "He Hate Me."

Lancaster County posted a Facebook message listing Smart as an "endangered missing person." 

According to TMZ,  cops say his family is "worried about his safety and well-being" -- adding, "It is unusual for him to be out of touch for this long."

Smart spent 2002-2005 with the Panthers and was a part of Carolina's 2003 NFC Championship team. 

Smart is best known for his time playing in the XFL in 2001 for the Las Vegas Outlaws.

Smart was last seen driving a silver 2016 Nissan Maxima with the license plate PJR_1759, deputies said.
