Slidell Police have arrested the man allegedly seen on a viral video choking a dog.
In a post to the department’s Twitter page, Slidell PD announced they’d taken Shane Mitchell into custody and that the dog shown in the video, Ruby Jean, was "safe."
Earlier today the department posted that it was aware of the video which shows a man ringing a doorbell shortly before hoisting the dog’s leash above his head in an attempt to choke it.
“This situation is not being taken lightly. The report was filed yesterday and is ACTIVELY being investigated,” the post reads.
That video was posted to the Facebook account of Rachelle Fassy. Fassy posted Tuesday afternoon that Ruby Jean had been returned to her and that she was thankful for all who helped including the Slidell Police Department.
