Charlotte prepares for second day of protests honoring George Floyd

Protests in honor of George Floyd, a Minneapolis man who died in police custody as onlookers filmed, are planned throughout  Charlotte area this weekend. Video footage of Floyd’s encounter with the Minnesota Police sparked national outrage as it showed officers pin him to the ground including one officer, who’s since been arrested and charged with murder, that placed his knee on Floyd’s neck.  Demonstrations have taken place all throughout the country since that footage went viral.

Protests are planned in areas around Charlotte Saturday -- one in Rock Hill at 11 a.m., Marshall Park 12 p.m. and in Salisbury at 4:30 p.m.
