Both the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles head into Thursday night's primetime match-up with identical (4-1) records to lead their divisions.

Carolina is coming off back-to-back road wins at New England and Detroit, while Philadelphia's only loss came against undefeated Kansas City.

The Panthers have been able do this without three star players in Greg Olsen, Ryan Kalil and Kurt Coleman.

To help fill Coleman's spot at free safety, they signed veteran safety Jairus Byrd last week, and he immediately played in last weekend's win over the Lions.

Byrd played for Buffalo and New Orleans in his first eight NFL seasons.

I talked to him about his first game as a Panther and looked ahead to this week's contest against the Eagles.
