Earlier this month, former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden met at Obama's office in Washington D.C. for a socially-distant conversation to talk about COVID-19, the economy, and how they should be handled by a president. This is the first time the two have appeared together in person since the beginning of the campaign.
A short clip of the conversation was released Wednesday. Both Obama and Biden are seen wearing masks as they enter the building, and then begin discussing the president without mentioning him by name.
“Can you imagine standing up when you were President and saying ‘it’s not my responsibility. I take no responsibility.’ Literally. Literally,” Biden says in the video.
Obama replied, “Those words didn’t come out of our mouths while we were in office.”
“No. I don’t understand his inability to get a sense of what people are going through,” Biden said. “He just can’t, he can’t relate in any way.”
The full video is set to be released Thursday, July 23.
