(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Wrigleyville’s Happy Camper pizza restaurant is in damage-control mode after a server had a tip for a police officer over the weekend.

If you go to restaurant’s website, a message pops up from management: “Upon learning this morning about an incident involving a customer, we immediately took action to terminate the employee.”

On Happy Camper’s Facebook page, there are hundreds of comments, some praising the restaurant for firing the worker, others condemning the restaurant in general.

Happy Camper says it reached out to the officer to personally apologize and try to make amends.

One Facebook follower, Lisa Prough, wrote, "I can only speak for myself as a business owner and in the customer service industry it sometimes is impossible to police anything and every employee says or does. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. The world needs more forgiving people nowadays."
