The Mall of America announced in mid-May that they will partially reopen on June 1st with retail stores, modified operating hours and limiting guests to 50% of capacity ... and those plans do not appear to be changing as Minneapolis wades through a series of violent nighttime protests that have left at least 170 business vandalized, robbed or looted, while a police precinct was torched.

A mall spokesperson said in a statement earlier in May:

"There are many unknowns surrounding this health crisis, and we all may experience setbacks along the way. But this announcement is promising news, not just for Mall of America, but for our entire retail community. Mall of America is home to more than 175 small business owners in addition to hundreds of national and global brands. We are prepared to open our doors, so they can open theirs giving them the opportunity to begin rebuilding their business."

The mall will keep all dining and attractions closed to the public until further notice. Food operators will still be able to offer curbside pickup and delivery. The mall will also implement new sanitizing standards for both its retailers and common areas.

Their spokesperson ended the statement by saying "reopening a building the size of Mall of America is no small task, but we are confident taking the necessary time to reopen will help us create the safest environment possible. We look forward to welcoming back our team members, tenants and guests."

The regularly services more than 100,000 visitors a day.
