PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - If the Steelers are permitted to have fans enter Heinz Field this season, ticket holders will have to do so with masks on.

In an email sent to season ticket holders, the organization also said they expect reduced capacity in 2020.

“The team is currently working with both the NFL and public health officials on how fans can attend games in a safe manner. The email stated that the Steelers goal 'is to have fans at Heinz Field this season. We anticipate that we will be working with a reduced capacity scenario and that fans will be required to wear masks.' The Steelers will be providing more information on these plans to season ticket holders as they are finalized,” the team said on its website.

In addition, season ticket holders can apply for a full refund for the 2020 season and will not lose their ability to renew season tickets in 2021”or any associated seat license.”

"Our goal is to still have fans at Heinz Field this year with the understanding that social distancing, as well as all fans being required to wear masks, will play a role in the capacity to ensure a safe atmosphere," said Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten in a statement. "We will continue to work with the NFL and public health officials to finalize plans for fans to attend our home games.

If some preseason games are eliminated, anyone with a ticket will receive a refund for any canceled games.

The Steelers are scheduled to report to Heinz Field for training camp on July 28, but there is word that date could be pushed back.
