WATCH: Nigerian boy gets NYC ballet company scholarship after dance video goes viral

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An 11-year-old Nigerian boy received a scholarship and an offer to train at the American Ballet Theatre after a video of him dancing in the rain went viral.

Stars including actresses Viola Davis and Cynthia Erivo praised Anthony Madu artistry after the video showing him dancing began circulating on social media.

“Reminds me of the beauty of my people,” Davis wrote. “We create, soar, can imagine, have unleashed passion, and love… despite the brutal obstacles that have been put in front of us! Our people can fly!!!”

Erivo told NBC News she connected Madu with the American Ballet Theatre after she saw the video.

“They’re in Nigeria. I happen to be Nigerian as well. And I was like, this felt like a kismet moment,” she said.

Madu told the outlet he hopes to be a professional dancer when he grows up.
