NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – New Jersey is among three states that have legalized betting on the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement approved betting on the annual Fourth of July event—the first time in history a state has done so, according to ESPN.
Colorado and New Hampshire have also given the OK to betting on the contest.
All bets must be made before the event begins as 12 p.m. Saturday.
The eating contest normally takes place outdoors at Coney Island but will be held at an undisclosed location without fans this year because of the coronavirus.
Joey Chestnut is the favorite to win and is aiming for his 13th title.
Chestnut won last year after eating 71 hot dogs in 10 minutes. He holds the record of 74 hot dogs set in 2018.
