The Carolina Panthers placed guard Chris Reed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday, making him the second player added in the last few days.

A player added to the list does not necessarily mean they have tested positive for the virus. It could also mean they were exposed.

As a sign of precaution, the Panthers had players be tested again on Tuesday and took extra safety precautions around the building, delaying practice until 2:15 p.m., which was originally supposed to begin at 11:50 a.m.

On Sunday, defensive back Derrek Thomas was the first Carolina player placed on the list, which head coach Matt Rhule confirmed was a positive case.

Carolina was one of the last remaining teams to not have any players on the list.

Rhule could not give out the results of any other tests.

"Our doctors felt it was best to take those tests and once we got everyone through it, it takes 20 minutes for each person and then we were able to get out to the practice field and finish practice," Rhule said.

Reed, a sixth-year pro, played in three games for the Panthers last year after being claimed off waivers in December.

A few weeks ago, Rhule said Reed had been one of the bright spots on the offensive line in training camp and is in the rotation to play at right guard.

On Tuesday the NFL announced four confirmed positive tests out of the 23,279 it administered to players between Aug. 21-29.
