If you’ve been feeling bummed you won’t get your fix of fried foods and corny dogs at the State Fair this year, then you’re in luck.

For the first time ever you can get your favorite fair foods to go.

This year, the State Fair is launching the Big Tex Fried Food Drive Thru event. Nothing quite like it has been done in the fair's 134 year history.

Fair officials say the event is designed to celebrate all the ionic traditions that make the state fair special, from the sweet smell of fried foods, to fair icons and even some fun on the Midway. Ticket holders will stay in their cars while getting a taste of the fair in a safe way. The entire drive is expected to take about an hour and a half.

Attendees will also get a chance to take a photo with Big Tex himself, and for the first time ever he’ll be decked out in a Texas-sized face mask.

The Big Tex Fair Food Drive-Thru will operate Fridays through Sundays during the originally anticipated dates of this year’s State Fair, as well as Monday, October 12: September 25-27, October 2-4, 9-12, 15-18.

Tickets to the event are limited and vary in price. They go on sale September 2 at BigTex.com
