The wife of late icon Kobe Bryant waded into the George Floyd conversation around injustice and black lives Saturday in an Instagram post.
Floyd died last week after a now ex-Minneapolis white officer put his knee on Floyd's neck and Floyd couldn't breathe.
Murder and manslaughter charges were announced against ex-officer Derrick Chauvin who was taken into custody this week. He and three other Minneapolis officers were fired last week. Since then, there have been nationwide protests, anger, sadness and rallies in honor of Floyd protesting police brutality and the handling of the incident not only by the Minneapolis Police Department but President Trump, too.
Places like Los Angeles and other major cities have mandated curfews in the face of protests.
She shared a photo, as reported in a People story, of Bryant wearing an "I Can't Breathe" T-shirt after the 2014 death of Eric Garner by an NYPD officer.
She wrote on her Instagram post: "Life is so unpredictable. Life is too short. Let’s share and embrace the beautiful qualities and similarities we all share as people. Drive out hate. Teach respect and love for all at home and school. Spread LOVE. Fight for change- register to VOTE. Do not use innocent lives lost as an excuse to loot. BE AN EXAMPLE OF THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE. #BLACKLIVESMATTER"
The causes of the deaths of Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and the seven others were blunt trauma.
The other victims, in addition to Bryant, his daughter, and Zobayan, were Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife, Keri, and their daughter Alyssa, Sarah Chester, her daughter Payton, and Christina Mauser.
Bryant and the eight others died Jan. 26 when their helicopter crashed in heavy fog in Calabasas. They were on their way to a tournament.
