Vera Clemente, Widow of Roberto Clemente, Has Died

Vera Clemente, wife of the late Pittsburgh Pirates player Roberto Clemente, has died. The Pirates made the announcement on Twitter Saturday evening.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Vera Clemente, the widow of the great Roberto Clemente and a cherished member of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Major League Baseball family. pic.twitter.com/ol23iJPP70

Earlier this month, the Pirates announced that she was hospitalized, in "delicate health."

Roberto Clemente died in 1972 after playing 18 seasons with the Pirates.
