We asked lawyers David Freedman and Marc Elias, who are representing Republican Mark Harris and Democrat Dan McCready, respectively, who is paying for their services. Freedman is a local attorney out of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Elias is a top Democratic Party lawyer, who served as Hillary Clinton’s lawyer during her 2016 presidential campaign, and who is now representing Kamala Harris for her 2020 presidential run.
