It’s the 4th and final pre-season game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night on WBT, and two punters are going down to the wire for a job.

The starters are pretty well set for the Panthers final roster, but the most competitive position battle is actually this one.

14-year veteran Andy Lee is battling with 2nd-year player, Michael Palardy, for the job.

Lee has been to three Pro Bowls in his career and punted well over the first nine games of last season before suffering a hamstring injury.  He was 4th in the league in gross punting average at the time of his injury.

Palardy was signed and played in the final seven games, and the former Tennessee Volunteer did a solid job in his time.

I talked with Palardy about this competition and how it is when friends and teammates are fighting for one job.
