We're hitting the homestretch of the 2020 election season, but there's still a lot to be determined in a short period of time. With less than two months before decision day on Nov. 3, both the Democrats and Republicans see the value of North Carolina's 15 electoral votes at-stake in the battleground state.

President Trump makes a return trip to the state on Tuesday. The third appearance for POTUS in the past three weeks since attending the open of the 2020 Republican National Convention in Charlotte on Aug. 24. Democratic nominee Joe Biden said recently he would be coming to the Tar Heel state as well, but has no scheduled dates on the books. The former Vice President was in Raleigh ahead of Super Tuesday and the pandemic back in February.

"Certainly, I think on the national level in certain states, Biden looks pretty good," political analyst Tricia Cotham said The Bo Thompson Morning Show on Tuesday. "On a state level, Biden is leading Trump barely in North Carolina in some polls. But, then in some other credible polls, Trump is leading by one or two."

Even though it's still early and polls swing back-and-forth depending on several factors, both Trump and Biden can be optimistic going into the toughest part of their respective campaigns.

"The race is interesting," political analyst Kenny Smith noted. "Biden had a lot of momentum this summer when the protests first started and appeared peaceful. I think the shift in that and the more violent they became, the more things have swung back Trump's way."
