The NBA can reportedly give Michael Jordan credit for saving the 2020 season, again.

After playoff games were canceled with players collectively protesting the unrest in Kenosha, Wis., the Charlotte Hornets owner was said to have staged an effort to get the players back on the court.

WBT's Bo Thompson and Sharon Thorsland provided their thoughts on the rumored reports coming out of Florida.

"Apparently, Michael Jordan was the guy who made a phone call to Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul, who're very active in the NBA Players Association," Thompson said on Friday morning. "Jordan has been the main player who brokered (game to resume)."

Jordan, a six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls is now the only black majority owner of any NBA team.

According to sources, the conversations between the players and Jordan were focused on creating better awareness of the current events. One of those players who walked away frustrated was Los Angeles Lakers superstar Lebron James. If there was one person to bring Lebron and the rest of the association back, Jordan was well-equipped to make it happen.

Jordan rescued the NBA season back in May by helping construct the model for the Orlando Disney bubble.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver explained to the Detroit Free Press how Jordan was in command over the project.

(Jordan's) clearly the most respected voice in the room when it comes to basketball. He felt that it was very important that after we established the 16 teams we not be gimmicky. Because there were a lot of proposals on the table to do unique tournaments and pool play like you see in international competitions - and we took many of those proposals very seriously."

"But I think ultimately, and I agreed with Michael, that there's so much chaos in the world right now - I mean, even before the racial unrest that we're experiencing now - that let's come as close to normal as we can and as close to normal as we can is the top eight in the West and the eight in the East playing four rounds of seven games so that's what we intend to do and our goal is to crown a champion."

NBA games are scheduled to resume within the next couple days.
