A lot may set Joe Biden and Anderson Cooper apart. One is a longtime politician, the other a media personality. One from a wealthy family and Biden coming from much lesser means, but on Thursday night the two men seemed to be one in the same.
So much so, they were not only fixed with the same questions and answers in the town hall meeting, but didn't stay six feet away from each other during CNN's commercial breaks.
“Joe Biden and Anderson Cooper are making a point of social distancing during the CNN Town Hall while on the stage,” Krakauer wrote to accompany the video. “But when they think they’ve gone to commercial break, they get so close to each other that Biden is whispering in Cooper’s ear," media host Steve Krakauer said on Twitter.
'The former Vice President took questions from a socially-distanced crowd in a drive-in movie theater. The two-hour event held just outside Biden's hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania showed his strength. Perhaps his best moment of the night came when he was asked about his upbringing.
Cooper asked Biden whether he believed he had benefited from "White privilege." After acknowledging he had "benefited just because I don't have to go through what my Black brothers and sisters have had to go through," Biden followed that up with saying, "Guys like me, who were the first in my family to go to college -- up here, my dad busted his neck. My dad came up here, worked here, lost his job, like a lot of people did here. There used to be a bad joke in the '60s in Scranton, everybody's -- no one's in Scranton, everybody's from Scranton, because so many people lost their jobs."
