The MLS announced today that it will bring it's 30th team to Charlotte, NC beginning play in 2021 at Bank of America Stadium.
Pat McCrory was asked if he was still Mayor would he be behind this decision.
"Absolutely," he replied "For one thing this has nothing to do with soccer and everything to do with Eastland Mall."
It has been reported that New MLS team owner David Tepper is planning to use the area which used to be Eastland Mall as the new team's headquarters and practice facility.
"This huge piece of land has just been sitting there not bringing in any money, an eye sore" said McCrory.
With today's announcement it is possible that the former Eastland Mall area will finally realize a new purpose and bring revitalization to the area.
