Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department has identified 4 hot spots of violent crime and murder within it's jurisdiction.

According to a report delivered to the Charlotte City Council by Rebecca Hefner, director of the City of Charlotte's Data & Analytics team and CMPD Deputy Chief Gerald Smith, there are 4 "durable hot spots".

These 4 areas make up less than 2 square miles, but account for 8% of all violent crime in Charlotte.

The areas include I-85/Sugar Creek, Central/Sharon Amity, Nations Ford/Arrowwood, Beatties Ford/LaSalle.

According to Former Mayor and Governor Pat McCrory, "These are the same (areas of concern) as when I was Mayor."

McCrory urges city leaders to energize the discussion, ask tough questions and find tough solutions to crime.
