Here is a running list of events or happenings that have either been postponed or canceled in and around the Charlotte area due to Covid-19.

Check back regularly for updates at the top of the page.

THURSDAY, March 19

-The Billy Joel concert in April at BoFA Stadium has been moved to next spring. 

WEDNESDAY, March 18 

-Concord Mills, SouthPark Mall and Charlotte Premium Outlets will close temporarily starting at 7 p.m.

TUESDAY, March 17

-Effective at 5 PM, all restaurants and bars in North Carolina will be CLOSED until further notice. Takeout service may continue.

-South Carolina will close all bars and restaurants will close Wednesday. Takeout service may continue.

-City of Charlotte government buildings are closing to the public Wednesday, March 18. Exceptions are CMPD, Charlotte Fire, the airport and CATS facilities. 

-The Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte next month has been canceled.

-The YMCA of Greater Charlotte will temporarily suspend member access and activities at branches and camps at the close of business Tuesday through April 1. 

-The Rolling Stones have postponed their July 1 concert at Bank of America Stadium. 

-Charlotte-area Burn Boot Camp facilities closed. 

-Lifetime Fitness closed all clubs Monday evening. 

-The Jimmy Buffet concert at PNC Music Pavillion Charlotte in April has been rescheduled to June 6. 

-Charlotte Knights Season Member Ticket Pick Up Event scheduled for Thursday, March 19 and Knights Fest 2020 slated for Saturday, March 28 will not take place as originally planned.

MONDAY, March 16

-Seoul Food in South End is closing until further notice. 

-Charlotte Beer Garden has closed until further notice. Takeout and pickup will be offered beginning March 19. 

-Chickfila has closed all the store's dining rooms until further notice. Drive-thru service will still be available. 

-McDonald's has closed all the store's dining rooms until further notice. Drive-thru service will still be available.

-Zaxby's has closed all the store's dining rooms until further notice. Drive-thru service will still be available

-Charlotte Mecklenburg Library announced that all library locations and material drop boxes will close on March 17 at 5 p.m. until further notice. 

-The Billy Graham Library will close, effective immediately. 

SUNDAY, March 15

-All South Carolina schools, including universities and tech schools, are closed effective immediately until March 31.

-The Huntersville Fire Department is suspending all fire station visits, including previously arranged fire station visits, until mid-April.

-Great Wolf Lodge by Concord Mills has closed for two weeks.

-5Church Restaurant and Sophia’s Lounge are closing indefinitely. 

SATURDAY, March 14

-All state public K-12 schools are closed for at least two weeks.

-Blumenthal Performing Arts is suspending all public events in its venues through April 12.

-All Catholic churches with seating for more than 100 people will cancel public masses in Charlotte. 

-MerleFest 2020 Cancelled In Response To Directives From North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper

-Harris Teeter will close nightly beginning Sunday at 9 PM.

-Publix will close nightly at 8 PM 

FRIDAY, March 13

-‪In a vote of 7-1, CMS will remain open, but will move up Spring Break. Students will go to school March 16-18, but will be off March 19-27.‬

-Effective Monday, March 16, Mecklenburg County’s Department of Social Services (DSS) is suspending all congregate meal services until further notice.

-The Homeless Resource Center at 618 North College Street is also closed and has moved to a boxed meal distribution process instead of congregate dining. Signs are posted alerting customers of the change at the Urban Ministry Center, Men’s Shelter of Charlotte and the Salvation Army Center of Hope.

-Starting Monday, March 16, Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation announced that all senior centers will be closed and senior programs will be suspended until further notice.

-For the next 30 days, all activities and events at Park and Recreation facilities that anticipate more than 100 people in attendance will be cancelled. Organizers and event registrants will be notified by Park and Recreation staff.

-Mecklenburg County Sheriffs Department has postponed all community events. 

-The NASCAR Hall of Fame will close until the end of the month.

-The Discovery Place is closed until the end of the month.

-Winter Jam 2020 at Bojangles Coliseum has been canceled.

- Sycamore Brewing has closed until further notice

- NASCAR has postponed all races for at least the next two weeks

-Carowinds postponed their opening season until April 3. 

-The LIT AF Tour host by Martin Lawrence at the Spectrum Center on March 14 has been postponed.

-The Charlotte Ballet and Sleeping Beauty has been postponed.

THURSDAY, March 12

·         Gov. Roy Cooper is asking the entire state to delay or cancel gatherings of more than 100 people, including sporting events, concerts and worship services.

·         State officials recommend that employers and employees work from home whenever and wherever possible.

·         CMS is still operating under a normal schedule.

·         CMS has canceled all field trips. 

·         The Mexico-Czech Republic soccer match on March 26, at Bank of America Stadium is canceled.

·         Live Nation Concerts is pausing all concerts until further notice, which includes the Billy Joel Concert at Bank of America Stadium scheduled for April 19.

·         Numerous public meetings with local government officials has been postponed.

·         UNC Charlotte spring football game has been canceled.

·         All collegiate sporting events until further notice have been canceled.

·         The University of North Carolina system will continue with online classes.

·         The Charlotte Checkers have suspended their season until further notice.

·         The Charlotte Knights will begin their season later, with a date yet to be determined.

·         Charlotte’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is canceled.

·         The Michael Buble’ concert scheduled for March 18, at the Spectrum Center, is postponed.

·         All Charlotte Hornets games are suspended until further notice.

·         Rich and Bennett’s St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl is postponed until June 27.

·         The Whitewater Center Green River Revival has been canceled.

·         The high school basketball state championships, which include teams from Vance, North Meck and Newton-Conover, have been postponed. ​
