Twitter took a rare step to flag a tweet by President Donald Trump on Saturday.

"NORTH CAROLINA: To make sure your Ballot COUNTS, sign & send it in EARLY. When Polls open, go to your Polling Place to see if it was COUNTED. IF NOT, VOTE! Your signed Ballot will not count because your vote has been posted. Don't let them illegally take your vote away from you!"

Twitter said the words by Trump "violated the Twitter Rules about civic and election integrity." However, the social media giant determined the tweet was in the public's interest to remain accessible and didn't pull it down.

North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein again fired back at Trump's remarks saying it's a felony in the state to vote twice. The President made similar claims during his trip to Wilmington earlier this month.

North Carolina was the first state to send out absentee ballots to residents two weeks ago. According to the NC Board of Elections, a record 750K requests for ballots were processed. A rate 15 times higher than 2016 at this time.
