Former CMS Board Member: I Support Plan B-Plus Remote

Bo Thompson Talks to Trent Merchant

Former CMS Board member Trent Merchant spoke to Bo Thompson on WBT's Morning News.

Merchant served from 2006 to 2011 on the school board, and offered his perspective on the current issues plaguing CMS.

After hours of deliberation by the board, and Governor Cooper's decision on a plan, parents and faculty learned that Plan B Plus Remote would be enacted.

Merchant called it "a good decision" despite being critical of the board's communication.

Merchant went on to share that his family is prepared for long term changes, saying "we are planning like the entire school year is going to be virtual." Merchant went on to express his concern about families that don't practice social distancing, emphasizing that the board needs to "hedge against those people."

Closing with passionate thoughts, Merchant said "we don't give you the option to drive drunk, so we're not going to give you the option to spread the disease through the community."
