Legendary country music artist Charlie Daniels passed away Monday at the age of 83. Tuesday on WBT’s Morning News, Bo Thompson paid tribute by re-airing an early 80’s interview of Daniels with the late Henry Boggan.

Daniels was perhaps best known for his rendering of 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia,' arguably the most popular version of the song. During his interview on "Hello Henry," Daniels detailed the story behind recording the radio edit, noting that he just had to "punch in the one line... One was 'son of a gun,' the other was an unmentionable word."

Boggan hosted a night-time talk show on WBT from 1979 to 1996. Daniels was a frequent guest and often checked in when he would travel through the southeast for concert stops.
