Spectrum News anchor Tim Boyum took time out of his busy schedule to join Bo Thompson on WBT's Morning News Wednesday. The two highlighted the second night of the virtual DNC and gave a preview of what next week's RNC may look like.

"I think they done about as well as they could," Boyum said about the Democrats taped format "There are plenty of awkward moments and struggling not having a live audience."

One of those moments came during the speech from former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell. A photo flashed in the background of Powell with presidential nominee Joe Biden and the late North Carolina native Jesse Helms.

Helms, a longtime senator for both parties, served over seven decades for the Tar Heel state in Washington. He was succeeded by Biden as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 2008. "Big Jesse" passed away during that same year at the age of 86.

DNC's third night starts tonight at 9 P.M. ET with speeches from senator Elizabeth Warren, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, former U.S. President Barack Obama and Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris among others.
