The novel Coronavirus has shaken up the norms of everyday life in America for roughly four months now. U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams joined Bo Thompson on WBT's Morning News several weeks ago, as citizens were just learning how to live with the virus.

Adams returned to WBT on Wednesday morning, with an updated perspective. Students returning to schools has become one of the most controversial problems families face, and Adams acknowledged the predicament. The Surgeon General cited "real health impacts to not being in school" such as missed vaccinations, obesity, and substance abuse. Adams emphasized that he supports "getting kids back in school, face to face, to the extent we can do it safely."

As of Wednesday morning, North Carolina had 77,310 confirmed cases.
