This is John Hancock. Other RS to. This week in big. Save my voice holds out today it will thing. Well we I have a new owner of the Carolina Panthers he held his. Introductory press conference today and I can't tell you that I Brenda anybody in the media that doesn't think it's just a breath of fresh air. Wind the new owner of the teams Emeka makes a reference two has so. Publicists are. Well would killing for saying this then that means days is owned ms. stone think her. And I answered questions that were opposed to women he seems pretty wide open and me apparently gave all the right answers and I think he's excited to be owner and I think you know we're excited to have him as an open owner. And the whole press conference goes on. And the last question of the day. But they basically just say OK well got two more questions. And the last question of the day comes from Scott Fowler. Who writes in his column if you go to the Charlotte Observer writes in his column that he'd been trying to kind of get in but does it just turned out he ended up at the last question of the day. And Fowler says to him. Look at for the article because he gives the actual. Parting gift you're goes. Fowler says there's a thirteen foot statue of Jerry Richardson outside the north gate do you plan believe that. Or. As this or move it. And David tepper the new owner of the Carolina Panthers answers. I'm contractually obligated to keep that statue as it is. And there was no time for follow up questions or anything along those lines so why that's essentially what we know. Fowler writes about his feelings on all of this site in a column that is currently on the air Charlotte Observer website Charlotte Observer dot com. Jerry Richardson's parting gift to fans David tepper a statute of limitations. So I would direct you are towards Scott Feller article Indio. On the observer website. But we also talked to Scott Fowler at 415 this afternoon we'll talk to scare expand berg who was also while part of the year questioning mob. I had 505 we'll talk to Tom Sorensen at 535. And if we get past his phone mail or Ron Rivera is expecting our phone call any moment so we've. We went through drug called a couple times talked to move earlier today. Is on vacation. But he's agreed to talk to us just as soon as we can good things all hooked up with him we coupon good news stories and also up. He probably is on vacation. It's already forgotten about old John so I expect doctor Ron Rivera just couple seconds enough find out about during his feelings on all that. My he is out of the city. Which all I guess Alaskan mull whether or not he knew all this was coming down yesterday or not or whether it toe was those bigger surprise tune to them as they you know we all knew what was coming down we just never really knew when the know when the final day was that it was coming down. But it was pretty interesting we've got excerpts of the press conference. And they addressed the stadium. And what he sees around. The stadium. And they talk a little bit about tax dollars some guy asked question about there being two schools you know there are dead dollars incentives. And then the old adage of billionaire can afford to build zoned in stuff. And then mr. temper addressed all of that. And someone asked will he how we will love support players who make statements that you may not agree worth. And I thought his answer on that was excellent. And I'll play those Scott Fowler a statue question in and responsible for you on that as so well so the new Panthers owner praised Rivera and praised turner. I got a call in a Marty attorney to ever heard back from Marty is so I don't know what the situation is there. The new owner didn't say anything about Marty. He said he said nice things do. About to Rivera said unbelievably nice things about Rivera. But he didn't say anything about Marty and all the good means anything a distant. To to the point of observation. One of the things that had tepper said about Rivera was wrong as a natural defensive guy OK just natural. I mean natural like walking down the street and drink and water natural. So I think you got to appreciate you got a guy understands that the wants to have the strength of the organization and bring beat good people to do that. So. He was extremely complimentary of our Ron Rivera. And that's got to make Iran feel good who was on vacation will be back next week apparently are Rivera had had and I had talked to run our recently so I didn't really know what is extent was. Ron Rivera gave presentations to not only the new owner David tepper but all the other prospective buyers as well. And a source they would come in and we would be hearing about the tour's of the stadium. Well part of that was good to meet with broad rule with Ron Rivera and and Enron would give them a little bit of a presentation and a and talk about. Coaching philosophy and expectations and no team personnel know stuff like that but just really more of an overview. But I than anything else. And then there were follow up meetings. And according to the observer. And Joseph person article. That is also a Charlotte dot com right now. Tepper told Rivera the importance that he intends to place on team discipline and community involvement by a Panthers players. But he made reference I think you'll one point two via panther website and saw that the community involvement was really already there. So total super all of that goes but anyway there's a new there's a new sheriff in town and and we think we like him. An entire 1110993. W Ricci John Hancock. Taking time out from his vacation I'm not sure exactly where areas. But I know is not in Charlotte. You think that's safer on not being here for the big press conference. The fact that they argue I got here to watch it on the on the Internet and him doing a little soft so. He was good news Froogle Google want to note the most of what the stripper at the site so. You know it's gonna remodel lot of finger very currently going forward. It out 202 just a sham. And even told the reporters are Rivera live had a chance to talk to it's a breath of fresh air for a lot of us so no I don't expect you to comment on that one way or the other. But he has he seems to be a pretty engaging and nine he seems to be pretty wide open and and the doors seem to reopen old it to. No further for a communication and I think everybody you know welcomes that so a lot I think I think he's off to a great stepping had great things to say about you. A natural defensive guy just natural I mean natural like walking down the street drinking water water natural. And that's I mean you know that's new bosh got to feel pretty good about that. I did you know them security and look at them talk about certain things that we talked about the family atmosphere which you know I'm I'm I'm I'm big on that I really duplicates and that's how you built Seaman and I agree with everything he says about that. Well plea deal here. You mentioned about you know Norman and in the coaches so that's always good and then obviously talking about the players so I'm glad it feels strongly about the guy. You know it does something happen and then some guys come through force. I think we can be a pretty good football league so not a pretty confident about that. You why I had a chance. According to what I've read and Joseph person article two you gave a presentation to all the owner prospective owners when they came into town. That was fairly short. I'm meeting you have had some follow up meetings with the mister tepper a sense and. Well for the most part you know I I can you the president picks you for all the respective owners you talk about football side of the organization. Can't come you know the question we got from all the prospect of owners whose very good humor never seem very gig here as well you know rely on experience having been with with the forgot I thought that was really good. Tom and then you know we really have had a chance to truly sit down and talk to discuss that it is because not being you know that the full time all of Europe at that time. Popular they're really pretty quick conversation and discussion. About you know about the people going forward so that was good but I will report could not cute Serbs announcement that you're a couple of hours with them talking about a who has an organ or. Person article says that you mentioned you are mr. tapper that tell you have several franchise pillars at or nearing the end of their careers. And that would include Julius Peppers and Thomas Davis who was so what are mr. Richardson's favorite is will know and Ryan Khalil. Mom. And dad talked me a little bit about that conversation and what his self feelings on that work. Well you know written then competition with the talk about our personnel here you have a good feel for who are guards are and then you which is here which is great barbecue don't that. Study they'll come and he's keeping it real import understand that you we've got some young guy that you have to step up it's such from the last two got. To drop classes you know slump we have a group with guys that that happens to console have the ability. But you know we we haven't seen their very seldom on the field and not so. I'm he understands and that's also again goes back to the fact that he's got some experts have been looked at earth. He mentioned today that he probably has a couple of guys in mind to maybe be a team president you really haven't had a team president purse say at least not by title. Not since Danny Morrissey know laugh does that affect your job at all. Com to a degree well you know I can just throw in a few president will be involved in Malta with the physical aspect of of the organization. I'm but it it's always good to have a guy. Yeah could I really appreciate the road to firewood anymore and we need uses you know very good. Signed for a people person dealing with people and against bringing in the new president I think oil ultimately critical situation where you know I will have a relationship with them the oil you know. Kerr it was so within half an hour of the announcement yesterday resigned I did that surprise you at all. Problem no it's because knowing that you don't see them and send you know so there's some the other religion if you have working for mr. mr. Rick that I thought that. You know that that's going to provide me I mean she's she's very loyal very hard working through a terrific job you know which you can take over so. You ought to come around saw that if you open doesn't the next step you know she continues to earth. Go to work from obscurity so. We. And what we all at a Whitner wasn't surprised that the announcement came down yesterday that the sale was finalized because we were all expecting it sometime my day this month and they're probably sooner rather than later. At what point did you become aware of our did you become aware of it at the same time that the rest of us. Well and I became aware of it the few days ago Hewlett talked about so the first corporate speak today mom with two good you know good to hear him now now it's finalized our typical forward. You know get an opportunity to visit with mr. shepherd you know sooner rather sooner than later. That meeting will take place next week Casimir back next week. Some guys execute but again he allowed he's got a very good he's still trying to. He'll select and acting president and then go through this site so what we're doing and employ you when you promote artists and it'll burst out trying to dampen. You know get ready to open up on the 25 so calm you know I know that you know and I am looking forward to it because it's you know you can cut me some good things for a typical open. Talk to me a little bit about football aspect of it because I really haven't talked to you and they are good long while. Cam has been active all through all of the offseason workouts and I and camps and so on and so forth that was something you didn't have last year and you. But I got yourself a new hot shot wide receiver and a new running back that came out at Denver and they bet in her new personnel are you excited about the season. Very much so yeah I thought we had a good spring are really goes pretty pleased with Hugh appropriators he moved him back we were broken all the players guys that did not get truthful all greens and he'll be able to learn from that experience to our guys. I'm very happy about what we in the draft by I think huge area there's an opportunity does serves as the outlook from the from the kick go. Scientific or other cars I I think we got a group of young players that. I have the ability to step up and make you need to step up and I mean bill I'd say that I'm I'm from American you don't wanna make sure they are at the message. For a appeared very good football team we need young guys to come through I'm very clinical we go from a coaching I I was very happy young Norman and and and Scott you know or are you are off the court and you corporate coach. Guys that you know perfect background in developing young quarterbacks smoke billowed from what they did Minnesota. Farm I thought camp Campbell that transition very well. I thought you know he developed a good good relationship with with what more could Scott while we were going through spring and now I think that's gonna show we go forward. You're excited with turner can you work returner you've worked for turner now essentially he's working for you but does this is the guy who you wanted to get once before and it just didn't know work out that way. It gave you your excited to have him. Yes very much so you know. I would tell him I'm mild to working well with coach who we're San Diego. And you know we get really good football period if all else. Which itself can compound some crap about it you know I know coach can trust them extremely. A lot and and just build that I I I I can rely on you know his background his expertise can't stop him from that we have with us from the beginning. And so he's got a relation with some of our players already so I think that the the transition went very smoothly offensively as for the defense beyond that they remember too that we have freedom coordinate you know straight black or take. Burns taken over throughout the special things but you know got the play course the play this play for a long time and quite a can't because seems. Well you know I'm excited about what he's done and now are court and taken over her what you look who do against. Took over Purcell McDermott I'm I'm pleased with that because I I do think you know here it with me from the beginning on them and saw it we know we've got guys that that know our football team. Com or have a tremendous background please. And in position to that could help but hopefully this thing. Any chance I hear Carolina Panthers named India supplemental draft coming up. Some. Probably not I think there's some guys that that we do like it also depends on mount powerball goes you know somebody may make draft guys in the couple broke up earlier. All of them later and let that happen you know the people who move on they're getting ready to return to. And don't ask where you are but what is the temperature and what is the humidity. Well I don't think there's any humidity and then the computer right at about seventy right now. So this there's this big night but I look forward they're getting ready for training camp like that you look forward so. You can back during Nam and I'm getting or thank god could argue I think we we have the type of trying to just says you know we have a good chance now we got to come through the other coast you guys if he's got a pretty close Opel. Hey listen thank you for giving me some time on your vacation and forgive me does sometime today as well appreciate very much. Are gonna work with a partner posse of half goes back to vacation down with they Hancock obligation he can now go back to that steamy seventy some odd degree. Ron Rivera for a ticket come on this occasion to I've talked to us about the new owner of the Carolina Panthers who led his introductory press conference today. Daily from a Baylor and Garcia got an infancy was a down there in fact. Yes the second to the last question of the day. And I ran into him in the halls and so what was the general consensus of the people that weren't they a press conference today and he said refreshing. That there's a guy who loves. Are probably divulged Mora was more open about more things and 29 minutes then no it hadn't. 25 years I don't necessarily want or bury mr. Richardson. And that's not the point anymore but I never was really the point I mean he dug his own hole also let him. That bad that's bad that's not said their. The last question of the day was asked by AO Scott Fowler. Wasn't really meant to be the last question of the day it's just kind of were Fowler. Ended up. And asked about the statue and mister tepper city was contractually obligated to keep that statue right word bills. So there's all sorts of speculation on what exactly does that mean because there aren't at that point press conference broken. There was no follow up questions on that so there are some rumors going around that. Maybe that was so the one of the minority partners should. No part of his buyout agreement was to keep that statue there his daughter could have you received. It was the minority owners that build a statue for mr. Richardson release that was the story were were given right. Or maybe that was mr. Richardson's request we don't know. So. There was a mentioned moments during the a press conference. Joseph person as the area started off the question today and his first question had to do with the changes of. Well this is. I'm not quite quite have 24 hours yet they own this team so. Still evaluating things. Lob. In general. Like edges and I'd like to have an open environment a big one big family environment. Upon where everybody feels safe like a family. But I mean she can come up and talked to people. And there's going to be you know just openness on all sides of this organization about the football side and the and the business side. Eric spared Bert was up next and he asked about the development side of the franchise meaning properties and otherwise well from. I think I don't know who wrote the articles about practice field on this being one of the few places doesn't have to practice fields obviously we're needs. So I think a lot of these things can't be done independently I can't talk about practice field without talking about. New stadiums and Keeneland as I stood before a view this as. You know the Carolina Panthers are both states so we have to think about where we're putting things and we're putting things but. You were things I did say that money is important Tom. One way or another we have to make the Kennedy who less than competitive with other NFL teams. At this point. You know given our practice so when other people have in the league we're trying behind a little bit. Just do I give credit Steve Harrison. It was via Charlotte Observer writer who are road to the last couple of articles actually about how the Panthers could compete with the new stadiums and conduct. Panthers split the stadium and the I headquarters. And that was an article that ran in Sunday's newspaper and so I assume that that was the one that he was talking about Maria Steve Hurst and made draw lost two references. Two other Minnesota Vikings who have I just opened up pay 125. Million dollar suburban headquarters in practice facility. So Steve Harrison was the writer of that to to give credit where is sort creditors should do. The the use of the stadium. I came up in the press conference today announcing David tepper is the new owner of the Carolina Panthers and and how he would like to use that stadium. You know it's not just the business basis as a matter of also things like high school games it. I'm trying to think that high school championship should be played in that stadium. Just when I think OK because that's part of community and bring that and community but I also think that you should be more. I'm not I don't wanna screw up the field. And I think they should be more bigger events there like you know. The right type of concerts okay. In this state and there really hasn't been so I think we'll only utilize the stadium a lot more for the community because I think that's important is being a member of the community. Tax dollars came up and somebody said you know there's two schools you have the day is a billionaire he can build his own stuff and then you have the other about participation tax dollars. But I incentives from us cities and states and. The fight. It was just talk about what you do and hear what would do and if I if I do if I go and I. Put development not bring a lot of dollars and here in tax dollars and here and there can be dollars if you have enough to be tax or hotel tax or something like that. And I'm bringing that tax in there. I'm making an investment I'm not asking for people weren't using those facilities. So as a lot of different ways you're talking about it from talking about people. You know we know we're talking about win win situations. OK can't just be for me and can't just be for them. So it has to be a partnership and partnerships and his wind went and that's definitely possible fees if you think that way so we knew. We do our development here than it does new development think he's people here just lost dating game we open up for other things and I'd make an investment in them last night bring that in here and I bring them anymore. Dollars into the community. And that's businesses in the community. There's more tax dollars generated. Tonight make census put some of those tax on assessed not taxing people for who weren't using those facilities but they're using those they're using things don't help them bring here. That's the partnership somebody asked. How will you support to. Good afternoon pro football hall you've been willing to make pointed comments powerful people in the past how would you support players is they have opinions that may not be alive and with the large sections of your fan base your customers you. Really make them and he pointed comments to that many powerful people. Tell you the truth I made some he referred to it things I did during the campaign. But I've tried not to make any. Since sept powerful person you're referring to is in the press United States are really haven't said anything about it except for a few positive things and economic policy. Which again you guys choose not to talk about. If you decide to talk about those things we'll talk about those things but people only to talk about positive things. But listen there's. For my charity stuff from a bit big believer in social justice. And I'm actually a big believer in you know country unpatriotic and you guess you guys know the pledge allegiance to the flag from the United States of America. We live for the record which just is one nation under god. Indivisible. Puzzles us and most of us quite. With liberty and justice for all but to be justice for all. That's what this is about liberty and justice for all okay this is the most patriotic thing. Going. So that's all I can say about that. Right do owner of the Carolina Panthers are record press conference today we talked to Ron Rivera and Leo first half hour and we kind of got over some of the excerpts from the from the press conference there today at the last question was asked by a Scott Fowler. And and Scott specifically said. There is a thirteen foot statue of Jerry Richardson outside the north gate. Do you plan to leave that. As is. Or move it. And contractually obligated keep that statue residence. And that was the highlight of the press conference in a lot of ways at least from a news the standpoint that seems to a gut just about everybody's attention well that was the last question have already been announced as last question so as soon as he said that. I he stepped away from the podium and everybody kind of broke away and so there was no follow up there was no. And I don't know if he'll answer that question or not although we seem pretty open to two questions today. Scott Keller writes in the Charlotte Observer this afternoon we will talk to Scott Fowler just oh by the way at 450 a little but an hour away from right now. But Scott writes in its in the final answer to an otherwise charming first press conference and I think that was kind of the consensus of everybody was there are kind of a breath of fresh air. Even if you compare the ownership of the hornets all the sudden now we seem to have an owner that is at least somewhat accessible. And that hasn't been necessarily the case with mr. Richardson Norah Michael Jordan. David tepper said Tuesday he is contractually. Obligated. To give to thirteen foot statue of the former owner Jerry Richardson exactly where it is outside the north gate of the stadium others has been one of the more wrenching questions and even speller makes reference to this in his article. That sellers on record as saying get that gig get rid of the state of the statue. But if you also look at the comments section at WBT dot com in polls that we've run. And polls of the Charlotte Observer thrown in polls to vote do we have to see our sister and become a sports station is run. You ask that question. And I guess to some extent I wouldn't think that there would be a majority of people would say yeah I get rid of it. But it's really a 5050 proposition. There are some people that say yes absolutely get rid of it there are other people that say c'mon. Get off the guy. The guy who brought pro football to the Carolinas this was a guy who will be the odds and I'm gave us an NFL football team that donated to the Super Bowl twice and. So there's as much support for that statue is there is. Disdain for it. So our Fowler writes a Richardson turned out to have one more surprise in store for fans a going away present that means he will never quite go away at all. Now my first thought was well what do they do demolish the stadium. And ended temper. To some extent. Made reference to. The practice fields dead article that was written by Harrison. That we have made that we talked about it too few moments ago Steve Harrison over the observer. Ever made reference to that and there's some speculation some thought that the practice facility would probably go someplace else may be on the other side of the state line to South Carolina to give them a stake in the well in the team. And then you've got seven acres of land that opens up where their current practice field and all that is and maybe you turn that into some sort of old something. I've never had the answer to the question as to whether or not that's where the new stadium could go. Whether or not you can build a new stadium down there on that land. Well you utilized the old one panel liquidated with Yankee Stadium and no Busch Stadium in Saint Louis and others were they build the stadium next to the stadium that they're gonna dared doubt. But the statue will remain. And and Scott Fowler who is on record as saying he thinks it should go. So Fowler says well now. We're left expected to speculate what contractually obligated means. And today it. Caller's assuming it was part of the final sales agreement from for for the team between Richardson and temper and that that was my first thought as well. But then there's some things float around the rumor mill that say maybe one of the minority owners like a human caller somebody like that may have. And it is part of his buyout. About Esther the veto stadium but there's statue state it was at my understanding on this is correct it was the minority owners who want at least that's what we're told. Purchased that stadium for mr. Richardson to honor mr. rich. So. Keller also comes up with a uninteresting angle saying. You know tempers pretty Smart guy can't imagine him being caught. Contractually on this defeated wanna do so. But maybe this works out in his favor. May be this way he doesn't have to alienate either side he's got an excuse for not taking down the statue. And if you didn't wanna do so always gotta excuse for that Joseph. So Wallace who were all that goes apart Scott Keller when. About an hour away from right now fifty minutes away from right now. There expand bird right after the 5 o'clock news. He was press conference as well in fact that's the second question having to new development so we'll talk here expand Byrd reports all over with and Tom sort of rolled friend Tom Sorensen. It to 535 this afternoon we will low streak with them as so well and all three run that to Rivera press conference from it was sometime in the 5 o'clock hour of for those of you who missed itself. That's the big news locally. That the sales finalized yesterday it David different his introductory press conference today and I think by and large everybody feels like that's a breath of fresh air at least initially. And at last night so big made for TV event. Brent Cavanaugh we'll talk about the Supreme Court nominee next. They got all the soccer players out and their coach. Finish that up today out of that Thailand cave where they were trapped by floodwaters rose two weeks that was as pretty fascinating. To go like a three days of those stages to get it all done but. Great conclusion. Everybody safe. An adult people under observation I guess for four or five days or something along those lines but to offer as much as we can tell so far everything no worked out well there. Trump last night. I don't know it was more fun watching the announcement. Or watching me. Kepler been back and forth between fox and CNN. I even went already MSNBC for a couple of minutes. Two catch. Chris Matthews and racial mad Al. I couldn't handle that for long. But I kept switching back and forth between fox. And does CNN. And it was just about what you would predicted if you were a comedy writer for Saturday Night Live. You would have taken the two angles of the two networks took last night. But nonetheless Brent Cavanaugh is the was the pick. 53 years old out there with this family really interesting story. How he had. Ties to George W. Bush that's where he met his. Now wife they were both working in the White House she was cut alike is executive secretary to the president. They met the day before 9/11. And there I guess that to go back they had their first date. The day before 9/11. And the next day found themselves running out of the White House being told to get out of the White House there's a plane governor and he coaches is a daughter's Little League. Basketball games. They call him coach case. That got a giggle. He talked about his one daughter who loves sports. And loves to read it. And his one daughter who loves sports. And loves to talk. Any turnaround and looked at her and there was just a father daughter moment there that you just couldn't help but love they high five each other and I don't know it just a beautiful family. A a staunch conservative. He vowed to Democrats have vowed to vigorously oppose him. They will. There's a where you'll find that it happens on both sides so I don't necessarily mean to pointing your finger along side or another but in this particular side that wanted to do Democrats because. You have a conservative justice and is being nominated. And they will vilify this guy. They have to people on CNN last night I can't remember we're the one guy is all I know cities got to face it you just wanna punch. Kept on trying to catch his name and I could not I couldn't catch his name I've seen him before. And and he's just he's just a jerk. Jerk face that was his name. Yeah. So Juan. They will take Brent Cavanaugh. Who for all intents and purposes seems to be a great Family Guy. On and a dedicated. A judge. His mother was a judge whose mother was a school teacher before she became a judge. You said last night the when he hears a judge Cavanaugh. That's his mum. I think that's why you hate being called mr. Hancock. But I. As my dad. Like Neil Corsica the is drug aborted. Cavanaugh he was one of Anthony Kennedy's clerks back in the ninety's. This ties to George W. Bush and the White House and actually served in that White House in that building. Where this conference was held last night. And the Democrats will just tear this guy to shreds over the next a couple of months. And I I I couldn't help but think about it at some point Cavanaugh probably had to sit down with the assembly and say. This is the greatest honor you could possibly. Expect ever in your lifetime to be named to the Supreme Court. Plus it's really decent job security. But on the other hand there's going to be a sixty day process here that is going to be grueling. And you guys are gonna hear stuff. Pertaining to meet. Meaning. Dear old dad. That is going to be hard for you to listen to ruin because they will do everything they can't just somehow or another. Don't nicest guys solidity. And ruin his chances. But. This will cement the conservative pulled on the court. For a generation. And who's to say. We have this article yesterday if I can find a real quick. That I find to be fairly fascinating. Because when you start thinking about the mid terms. That's one thing but then when you start thinking about 20/20. Mean if you only if you listened if you read the press a new line and knee and you take what the press tells you the idea that did to. Donald Trump could be reelected. Just seems asinine Bennett did just all your c'mon there's no way they're gonna give this guy four more years but then when you start to look at the numbers. You find out that actually know others are probably pretty good possibility that he could get reelected. Well that would be six more years from right now. And you've got justices. Who are 86 and and eighty years old. And so if all the sudden trump gets. To name. One or two more. Or what if the mid terms don't turn out the way that the republic that they Democrats want what if all the sudden the senate numbers. Expand. In Republican influence rather than. Declined. One of all the sudden now you're back to 520. Well then you've got to then if you get another Supreme Court justice after that. You don't bet you all you can lose Collins and Murkowski. And not have to think about it. Anyway what if what if what if but the 2018 mid term elections are shaping up to be a battle of basis. And before we get to the mid terms. Will get a new justice on the Supreme Court at least that's the plan. By the time that the Supreme Court gets back together in October. And that could be an unbelievably. Unifying. Prospect for Republicans. Because about a fifth that the electorate. Voted for Donald Trump based on. Just this. Supreme Court nominations. I didn't vote for trump. Yeah I didn't vote for Hillary its purpose. Just to just make sure that we have that. No clarification. But the big voting and for the Supreme Court if I voted for trump that would have been a reason I would have voted for. And so. Those votes. Maybe that hurt when you made overpay for to get dividends right now. My best. Let's wander back. Good day. Yesterday we were out talking about the potential. Supreme Court nominees. There was review and outlook opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal. And it talked about the candidates. And who I trump was considering. And the list city compiled. Which was. The big one of the big points of contention on no CNN and MSNBC last night was who are compiled this list for the president of and and so on and so forth and and that's something that. Schumer and I and others serve. Have latched on to as. But as the Wall Street Journal points out the with the lowest wasn't merely a campaign natural. There's a governing rule. It was the point being to choose nominees with a proven. Legal record who won't. Turn out to be Harry Blackmon are John Paul Stevens or David Souter or even Sandra Day O'Connor. No Wall Street Journal said yesterday on that score it's simply bizarre to hear conservatives Warren and senators lobbied that mr. Cavanaugh. Might be hard to confirm because his paper trail is too long. A long legal record is the best insight by far and how a nominee thinks about the law. Souter resulted from a lack of legal record. Judge Kevin honest twelve year record on the DC Court of Appeals is among the longest of any recent nominate. Cavanaugh has no opinion that would create a confirmation problem on abortion rights yet. His record on the first and Second Amendment is solid. And perhaps most telling her his opinions on the separation of powers. And the administrative state. And this is where the High Court is likely to be crucial over the next twenty years has progressives use executive power to rewrite the law by regulatory dictate. He also has been a leading voice on the appellate bench. In the proper balance of power among the three branches of government. This too has been under assault. By the judicial left most recently in the trump travel ban case the separation of powers will be at stake as liberal states. Like California claim that they can reject federal law on such matters as Sanctuary Cities. So the larger point says the Wall Street Journal yesterday. Is that if they GOP senate can't confirm someone like Brett Cavanaugh. It doesn't deserve to hold the majority. So drop a set the stage. For what will be pretty contentious over the next. Couple months. With his announcement Brent Cavanaugh as. The next justice for the Supreme Court. And among the targets that are already. Millions of dollars are being generated two go to Alaska and two main. Com. Two Republican senators represent those states. Who back abortion rights Lisa Murkowski and Suzanne and Susan Collins. Neither one faces reelection. But there will be millions going into those markets. I'm. To get. Groups. To flood their states without ads urging them to press the nominee is about any possibility of challenging the 1973. Roe vs. Wade decision. And then on the other side conservative groups are poised to unleash ads supports. End. Joseph mansion state of West Virginia and Heidi hide camp state of North Dakota and Joseph Donnelly state of Indiana. Where all three voted last year to. Confirm Neil gores are these are Democrats. In areas with strong. Trump's support in fact mansion. In West Virginia is probably. The one that will be targeted the most because there are mentions challenges especially tough because. He's facing reelection in a state where trump won. Most decisively like by 42 percentage points. And West Virginians also will be voting this fall on whether to Alter the state constitution to say that women aren't guaranteed the right to an abortion. So. That's the stage that has been set for everything. And you'll hear from the American Civil Liberties Union and you'll hear from. A conservative voter groups and but it'll get it'll get contentious now then you also have Mitch McConnell. Crew. Torres much of a lightweight is I think he has. Is the when it comes to confirming judges. He's the man. And not just Supreme Court judges. He's a perfect 21 for 21 confirming federal appeals court nominees. During the trump administration. And more to come this year. He kind of has adopted. As his top priority. As the senate majority leader an ambitious effort to make the federal courts more conservative. From top to bottom and there's only one way to do this and that's still every judicial vacancy with a conservative and he's well on his way towards doing that. He outmaneuvered Schumer last year making the path clearer for is so High Court nominee. And he'll probably try to do that again and Schumer doesn't have a whole lot of ground to stand on in this on the Supreme Court nominee so it will be contentious. I think he's got to kind of weather the storm. And I assume I go back to Brett Cavanaugh. Jimmy is probably had to go to his family and say. This the opportunity of a lifetime. This is yeah. This does this that this is what dreams are made offices. A chance to. I go down in history. But get ready to hold on because the next sixty days are gonna be difficult to whether. But there is light at the end of that tunnels. 191 days into the year. 174. Days to go it's June the tenth. Ninety Wyoming admitted as the 44 US state. Love me some oil men we're men are men. Thank you sixty for the album hard day's night by The Beatles was really I don't know why I got two and in no hard day's night over the last week but I last weekend was. Starbucks is eliminating plastic straws by 20/20 I guess my question is why not now. And only thing I can think of and I never read this facility I can think of his long maybe they've just got a huge back stock you know like in warehouses someplace but. I mean if you gonna save the planet save the planet. Well they announced on Monday that by 22 warning they will no longer offer plastic straws out of any of its stores but that's like at least a year and a half away from. There are redesigning cups with lived for cold drinks says the company will eliminate more than a billion plastic straws each year. I guess the cubs that they're developing our cut alike felt Baja one you know where you've got below drinking. Why don't they just use the captivate are right now we'll talk we'll tell them that. And I don't get it. Straw all of sleds will become the standard for all iced coffee tea and expresso drinks of observers have compared them to adults simply cups. Since both feature the air raised plastic lip for drinking. I find that you still have to punch a hole the other side to get bloated work it's. Just a little pin all that they use for them. Forever chino drinks Roland I'll be served in the new eco friendly straws and our customers may request the other cups have they are prefer no strong at all. And I'm all for I guess illumination plastic browser was doing that but. Have you been to a place recently that has paper straws. Well they suck yeah well it's nothing they can't do the job that they won't card your mouth. And they're not good for still watch at all. But then that's what they've been the victims. And rubber band. Parents let kids consume more sugar during the summer. It's an obvious admit. Maybe the key to combating childhood obesity is keeping kids in school year around says this article no. Researchers say that parents let their children consume up to five times as much sugar during the summer holidays is they would any other time ice cream and sugary go drinks were rename the biggest culprits. And part of that uninteresting in that first of all you're around more stuff like that in the summer. But the other part is your kids are around you more in the summer. And you don't have the guts to say no. The schools they could say no. You can't say no. Quiet iPhone it'll make you appear rich our revenues to bail boy difficult generally not all that productive but to guess how wealthy someone is based on appearances if you really need do. You can have a shorthand to figure out if someone is Richard not. New study suggests that all you need to do is find out what kind of phone they own benefit it's an iPhone. All odds are they're doing pretty well for themselves. And this comes from economist at the University of Chicago. We recently published a paper highlighting how consumer behavior and media consumption can inferred demographic information as it turns out the iPhone is pretty consistent symbol of wealth. I have an iPhone. But no. I'm unbelievably wealthy and their right TJ yeah. Of course owning an iPhone doesn't mean that a person is rich but the device serves as the most reliable indicator of determining if someone falls into the higher income bracket. Researchers wrote across all ears and our data. No individual brand is as predictive as. Being high income and owning an I Apple iPhone. That data showed that owning an iPhone gave the researchers the 69%. Chance to correctly identify the owner as quote unquote. High income. What does it sit here iPhone radio announcer. Other products and brands most indicative to being high income would be if you own an iPad. I have an iPad. And an iPhone but I must be ridiculously. Wealthy. Using key command of soy sauce. I use kid who runs the White Sox. Having a passport. I have a passport. Having heat and cooling ceasing your drug vehicle. I have needed dueling scenes of my vehicle. Much too good for this world. We had a chance to watch the David Kemper I introductory. Press conference today. Sharp looking gentleman know sitting in one of these forward rose to degrading to pull. Vigorously taking notes. Gets the last question of the day. Asked whether there it thirteen foot statue of Jerry Richardson outside the north gate do you plan believe that or move it. And it turns out to be the question of the day in the one that whose answer everybody is is talking about today's Scott fellow would you be considered the S senior dean of our Charlotte sports writers now. Prove he I'm certainly got enough gray hairs the V considered their although I will play out well in the back at that earned him on Sorenson but I think he. He holds that title maybe America just. Sports guys. Active why is you've been doing it as long as anybody haven't you were talking to sewers and about a half or not. Yeah that that's about right I came here and none ninety or so the year before the Panthers spoke. Yesterday it was a very significant day I told some of my colleague about the food before it happened one of the most significant. Press conferences and in Panthers history a Maynard who's. Truly the end of an air the beginning of another error and Spain they're pepper. In front of a Crowell and really I thought really did well it should stressed that for the most part. Wolf talk I know about my last question and all laugh but I thought in general. There was say a lot of stuff to be learned today and and and he was earlier Brooke the pressure. And well and that's and you know that's ready should use that phrase because that is the phrase that I have heard from everybody. I'll Bailey from my WFAN CSA today you have wedge you feel about things and generally said breath of fresh air I I think everybody fans included instead mr. Rivera earlier. I thought you know I don't expect to coach to comment on now. On the good the difference in not temperament above the ownership but I I think everybody kind of said wow this is great. Now we've how we've probably got an opener and an owner who seem somewhat accessible and and we don't even have that at the hornet so this is kind of kind of new for us. Yeah absolutely. It's then you know of course. Not too hard at making good first impression in that situation. Probably. Most people. Would get a good review on a day where they're not talking about it out of controversies are talking about a fresh start it off but. He struck me really that that reputation he has. The billionaire next door so to speak and I'm talking about even what he wore a mean that the guys go to war any. Designer dress suit that he wanted to it. Maybe he wears you know. A button down and another try again. Or like somebody who you know you could bank governors. Thrown up their sleeves and go to work or maybe going to a tailgate herself detonate it got a project that image and I think that. That's a Smart. Departure. You know from the way out mr. Richardson always stressed that looked at. I think that's just the white pepper dresses anyway but there were just so many there aren't so. And now what we heard I did have a chance to speak to him briefly today. After the press conference but I told him what I wrote a column which is now online but I thought he or. Transparent and today Ben Richardson has been over the last fifteen years combined. Did you get any clarification on his answer about to contractually obligated to the statue you have your own a point of view in the column that has been running all afternoon at the Charlotte Observer dot com. Which is the headline parting gift of fans David tepper a statute of limitations but. Did he clarify it all what the contractual obligation now wasn't where it came from. And he did that in the boot largest get to know you worry. Low but. From you know what I understand what's in the column is accurate that bad. Jerry Richardson and insisted. That just be part of the deal that that statue was like going to anyway wage. You know most of big gift to him promised partners two years ago and I wrote in the column it's sort of like it you have out but you have. Stumping in front of Al and then use cell the Al which you ride into the contract that the next donors can't move it just. Seemed really weird to me I think the statute subtly outlived its usefulness. And I think it should be gone by. Inning on anywhere that's bad too is. And I was about was a a big news the moment I guess at a press conference but that broke cover that a lot of new moment look. The idea of new practice fields being built somewhere outside of downtown Charlotte it. The mother development likely. To happen whatever format takes the main. This guy that businessman he's aggressive he didn't make eleven billion dollars by. Sit around he's got a lot of big ideas. That's about seven acres of practice field down their behind the air current stadium and I don't have a rural answered this but I've always wondered and speculated to some extent and other cities that have built new stadiums they sometimes have built a stadium next to the stadium that they're getting ready if terror doubt that happened did bush just stadium in Saint Louis and obviously happen with the Yankees in New York. Is there are enough land down there to build a new stadium and then terror down Bank of America if that's what they decided maybe they'd like to do. I don't think so not not India not in no way it's configured. I think you'd have to build it almost on the same spot let you know change that a little bit but I don't think that. What they own there and what they get access. The video property. No I and your rise exactly right that's happened a lot of places that happened that I'm glad they. You could go down there every six months to see the old Georgia now. Home gradually being demolished there's been new place two roads the news but they palace that they happen Atlanta. But no I admit Kate said don't bank I think it sounded from you know what we heard in the press conference that the idea is to. Heavily heavily. Renovate and Reid do. What they got. And that you know it state. That we're talking about and the millions perhaps hundreds of millions of dollars being poured into that but. Nevertheless that's still way way cheaper than building these ideas that are like. And then utilizing to a to a greater extent concerts high schooler championships on the tore those and I know you're slammed today I appreciate you give me a few minutes congratulations on the you know it's it's funny. Because everybody over thinks their questions in situations like that US the simplest question of the day and it's a woman everybody's talking about so our. Congratulations that was you're you're the one who lay into the press conference on the on the perfect note. Well yeah well thank I am I'm glad. David tepper answered it and didn't just today. That remains to be sane or something like there's answers the day in general he is saying that they tried to. The beat some what transparently. The medical look at changed. Scott who has pleasure thank you ma'am. All right thanks but. Everybody's all. Oh lead in the wrong franchise. New day in. In the US Carolina Panthers who have history the introductory news conference with David tepper took place today in our. Good friend air expand bird go was there in fact asked the second question of the a press conference which basically went to questions almost immediately. And Eric joins us nine WB GM and. Connect or are you are contractually obligated to rumor monger who lightning lash out while both. I don't think I'm contractually obligated to do anything that I can think of our. And I'm not an apartment yeah. We're just doctor Scott Fowler a couple of seconds ago I think it's interesting that the the last question of the day of sometimes the simplest question of the day becomes they the most part that everybody. Watched all those reporters try to craft their questions and framed their questions and and Fowler pretty much in a sentence of NASA's they want to heaven with the statue and amenities as a contractually that they Angolan anywhere. And we don't necessarily know the story behind the story of ma but have been pretty interest in US to about development and that's the other big story is. I really did actually make some news today the practice field goal on somewhere. Yeah he made it pretty clear. The current practice fields are outdated their political theater out. The rest of the unifil and any describe it as his top priority of course you know you're not it's it's got. Many talents in the past few weeks there aren't. You look at practice field it seems all but inevitable we look at it you seem recorder as part of a training complex. And based on David Pepper's. Content. Indication of Carolina in Carolina Panthers. It seems that it would be likely he would look across the state on to do that so we at least got a few things in moderation again. I is there. Admiral thought about they're just Albert are there not also low wooden they're also be tax incentives to being in South Carolina as opposed North Carolina. Yeah I think there would be I eat your fourth historically South Carolina has always been worked closest with informants or any number of businesses and I think the opportunity to have a girl he. Stay in the state would be pretty attractive so we'll get her into subway track to hammer or. Feel as though it adds a perfect world you with the stadium at our fort eventually don't look stadium. But I think it's pretty likely it's South Carolina will be through the airport for David pepper if you look at and Ukraine sent her home. So you ask your question is that they're for the rest of the press conference did you get a chance to talk to mr. tepper afterwards. I did not he may hit oil. Any out of the room pretty quickly he spoke to also got thirty minutes. And I suspect if he was well aware piece stuck around he would be a prophet but I remember it would be yeah. So why don't your stock broker you're stuck in a room with all the reporters. And I know there had been small talk going on now I know what the reporters in the people from all of this building have said when they came back in what was that. What was the small talk among our reporters one know when this was all said and done. Well that last question we just discussed from Rockefeller about. The statue and David pepper response to. He was contractually obligated to keep this that you have placed got a little bit that the post game discussion. Such that it wanted to and there weren't a lot of astonished merit and also a lot of shaking of heads well of course block flat or their people up in the age. Going on in the final chapter of the Richardson monsoonal flow certainly want to take away yet people make their way our current depressed property. And Fowler seems a fairly convinced that that was something that was put in their loved by mr. Richardson and there was a rumor floating around earlier that may be one of the minority partners like Hugh McCall. I'll may have made that request in his parting agreement I don't know if that would hold water or not but you're of the feeling that it was probably air Jerry Richardson. Request. I think it's all but certain remember here about 48% want a head full authority. Seem conduct the transaction for a 100% of the fruit just sort or that we are. The minority partners had no involvement. No influence over those negotiations. Not necessarily that conversation we don't know the story behind the story but it has to be fascinating because what I want from me. Why would pull the pepper calling the concession and left it and ball. I don't know if you replace. What what hit them another work he she set that if you can't or motivated you're pretty sincere or gotten themselves either. Aren't at all I thought Fowler made a really at some point in a column that he has currently running on the observer and I've noticed the same thing in the polls that we've run on WBT dot com and the same that holds true for what they are. Not for the comment sections that are in the observer that is. When you start to ask did the state we should the statue calmer ago. It actually is about a 5050 break there are some people there that are adamant that that statue should stay because this is the guy that brought the NFL here leave the old guy alone. And though there are others that are syncing no it absolutely needs to go so. To some extent. Com this let's David tapper off the hook he doesn't have to get in between the the 5050 crowd does this gives him an excuse for the statue is Steve is still being up. And now and then gives him cover if that's what he was looking for. Yeah you're right it until you wonder what what how much of that factored into this situation. Yeah I think certainly it her after all or that big yet afterwards is public where the newspaper corporate run out of alienating half a second place they're you know it except in those loans lose some New York. Compared with among signal some reforms that the what you should Lola. Obviously they're men and women who think it's a girl and once you think it's it's very bad. That's another interesting aspect if there will there be pushed back well people. You're playing well playing a publicly I felt that statute made quite. Order that they just simply not care that much of their order without we're equally consume them and leave me alone before. And permanent seat licenses and and things along those lines com. We have an old stadium that we need to read do I prefer it that so far cry from we need a new stadium. It is I think so I think the Murrah court it's helpful or the art of local government and government. You have to be heartened art movement now it was a little bit murky because and other formal David tepper says we'll let you know I just feel so therefore thought it sounded like. He would Morley told are in except they're arbitration because he offers dead yeah that is that the purposely went through the stadium. And the outflow. Or without that he loosened restrictions on gambling refer to this court decision a couple on the bill would create. People are even. Forms of entertainment. Including ones and also could potentially little or evidence that would help pay for those were immigration now that sooner long road. Add and we don't know what you know failed utterly Turkey will be able few clean or not he gambling revenue growth that's certainly what snatched it from. Yeah and that was inching timing too when you and I talked about this the day that it took place the day that the gambling restrictions were pretty much lifted was also the day that I was announced the David Kemper was the a winning bidder for the Carolina Panthers timing is everything this can mean a couple of bucks in his pockets. Yeah that's absolutely right it at minimum Garrett and no matter how that aren't sure excel. The toward the scene believe. And a gay or companies I you'd have to. The belief that television ratings and or lung view you and all the other thing. It will create health. It would look there are this is partly because it's what people Campbell book although this worked as a unit but if you break it. In my locker mortgage he practiced then. Not looking a lot more people have a lot or say that you're older they're being they're probably likely to the current student. I'm sure more things will come out between now and Friday at 4 o'clock when we talk to you thanks to give me some time today appreciate it. Back got back here tighter expand burned off he goes Tom Sorensen who show up after the F 530 news and I don't know this is an exclusive or not but we got him on vacation had a chance earlier to talk to Ron Rivera you had a chance. According to what I've read and a joke person article two you gave a presentation to all of the owner prospective owners when they came into town. That was fairly short. A meeting you have had some follow up meetings with the mister tepper sense and tell me how those have gone and just what you walked away with a feeling about those. Well for the most part you know I can do to presentations for all the prospective owner he'll talk about football side of we'll be organizations. And dump you know the question we got from all the prospect of owners whose very good gimmick you never seem very gig here as well. You know rely on experience having been with with the clerk I thought that was really good. Tom and then you know we really have had a chance to truly sit down and talk to discuss that it's because not being you know that the full time owner at that time. Popular they're really pretty quick conversations and discussions. About it all about the people going forward so it was good but I will report could not cute it's an announcement that you know a couple hours with them talking about it was an organ there. Person article says that you mentioned you are mr. tapper that tell you have several franchise pillars at or nearing the end of their careers. And that would include Julius Peppers and Thomas Davis who was so what are mr. Richardson's favorite is will know and Ryan Khalil. On the dad talked me a little bit about that conversation and what his self feelings on network. Well you know written in competition with the talk about a personnel here you have a good feel for who are guards are and then you which is here which is great barbecue donut. Studied. He's he seems real import understand that you know we've got some young guys that you have to step up it's such a lot to go out. To drop classes you know slump we have a group with guys that that have to console have the ability but you know we we haven't seen their very seldom on the field and not so. I'm he understands and that's also again go back to the fact that he's got some experts have been with Pittsburgh. He mentioned today that he probably has a couple of guys in mind to maybe be a team president you really haven't had a team president purse say at least not by title. Not since Danny Morrissey know left does that affect your job at all. Tom to a degree it well you know against who fell in a few president will be involved you know Malta with the physical aspect of of your position. I'm but it it's always good to have a guy. Yeah could I really appreciate the road you firewood anymore and we need uses you know very good. Find her a people person dealing with people. And again bring in a new president I think oil ultimately critical situation where you know I will have a relationship with them the oil Tina. Her was so within half an hour of the announcement yesterday resigned I did that surprise you at all. Bomb now it's because knowing that European and and fans you know so there's some the other relation you have working for mr. mr. Rick that I thought that. You know that that's going to apartment I mean she's she's very loyal very hard working through terrific job you know which you can take over so. You ought to come home fathers if you open so that the next step you know as he continues. They're so work from obscurity so. We. We all at a Whitner wasn't surprised that the announcement came down yesterday that the sale was finalized because we were all expecting at some time by this month and they're probably sooner rather than later. At what point did you become aware of our did you become aware of it at the same time that the rest of us. Oh and I became aware of it the few days ago Hewlett talked about so the first corporate speak today. Thumb which are good you know good to hear you know now it's finalized now let it go forward you know get an opportunity to visit with mr. shepherd you know sooner rather sooner than later. That meeting will take place next week or send your back next week. I'm united and should but again the a lot of these kind of hurt that he's still trying to. You collect and acting president and then go certified so well what we're doing an in place. You know promote artists and it's over they'll try to dampen. You know get ready to open up on the 25 so. Com you know I know that you know and I am looking forward to it because it's you know you could cut me some good things for a typical open. Talked to me a little bit about football aspect of it because I really haven't talked to you may have a good long while. Cam has been active all through all of the offseason workouts and and camps and so on and so forth that was something you didn't have last year and you. But I got yourself a new hot shot wide receiver and a new running back that came out at Denver and naive bets in person new personnel are you excited about the season. Very much so you know I thought we had a good spring are really good I was pretty pleased with you appropriate if you move dramatically we brought some quality players guys that don't get cute folk all greens and they'll be able learned from that experience to our guys. Very happy about what we didn't drop by I think huge area there's an opportunity does circus. Outlook from the from the gecko. I have to ethical or other guys I I think we've got a group of young players that there. I have the ability to step up and they do need to step up and I mean no I say that I'm I'm bomb American you know wanna make sure they are at the message. I hope for a appeared very good football team we need young guys to come through some very quick all the government coaching I I was very happy. Given Norman and aunt and Scott you know are are are off the court and you corporate coach. Guys that you know perfect background in developing young quarterback smoke billowed from what they did Minnesota. Farm I thought camp handled that transition very well. I thought you know he developed a good good relationship with with what more is Scott. While while we were going through spring and now I think that's gonna show we go forward. You're excited with turner do you work return or you work for turner now essentially he's working for you but does this is a guy who you wanted to get once before and it just didn't know work out that way. It gave you your excited to have him. Yes very much so you know. Our crude oil in my mild to working well with coach whom we're San Diego and you know we get through people popping up all else we have itself. And dumb and I'm some kind of bothered you know I know coach can trust them extremely. Bol lot and and just build that I I I can rely on you know his background his expertise yes Scotty to a problem that we have with us from the beginning. That's so he's got to listen with some of our players already so. I think that the return this when her absolutely offensively or for the defense the you know that they remember too is we have three to coordinate you know straight black or take. Burns taken over her the special things but you know got the plate for the plate this plate full time employment. Click here receives some you know I'm excited about what he's done now or court and taken over her what you look to do against. Took over oversaw McDermott I'm I'm pleased with that aside I do think you know. Here it with me from the beginning and then you know we've got guys that that no war football team Tom or have a tremendous background. Holy father in in position because that could help but hopefully distinct. Any chance I hear Carolina Panthers named India supplemental draft coming up. Pump probably not I think there's some guys that that we do like it also depends on on how it all goes you know somebody made may draft card in the couple broke up earlier. All of them later and that happens you know the people who move on they're getting ready for trying to cap. You know on ask where you are but what is the temperature and what is the humidity. Well I don't think there's any humidity in an attempt to write it about seventy right now can't sell this there's this big night but. I do look forward to it because we're getting ready for training camp like that you look forward so. You're getting back their hands and under pink dark and very directly we we have the type of trying to just says you know we have a good chance now we have to come through we have a co Q guard if he's got a pretty close social. Ron Rivera talking just a bit earlier. And. These are locally was the introductory news conference with. The new Carolina Panthers owner David tepper. We talked Ron Rivera little bit earlier we talked Scott Fowler a little earlier we talked to or expand burn a little bit earlier where are now going to Laura. All right stand by the senior I asked just got Feller if you thought he was the the US senior. That a journalist or via. Of the city now as far as sports turning Gaza he deferred do you Tom so he may still see Jewish the other is the old guy India and the community. He right now. I'm older and Feed the Children everybody ban them you know this fanatic amigo sampler. Well your pictures you could be I I'm sitting in a room mud today with I don't know that that nobody years older than thirty are they. Now that's untold amounts that I don't like be in the 65 year old in the room I don't like this at all aria. I'm excellent and I like Israel could not you know you people complain about this time years that I don't put Fargo and on a vote count here because it's kinda. Complications or travel or just kept Fonda relax in itself. I'm I'm great. This is like the two week window were a guy like Rivera Camby on vacation and no we caught him on vacation he was so gracious to give us some much time a little bit earlier. Com what did you you were at the press conference today I'm led to believe. You were don't know what were your reflections on there when it was all said and done with and you're walking out you thought to yourself what. I thought we haven't been the star of older attire in town or casual. Yeah I mean it. Syracuse and was always gonna be dressed out in public is darker where assumed he was and that's it was I was gonna be just. Pollen count and it was gonna be actually. Interpreted a note jackets. Top nine buttons on buttons that ninth with two or three. And just a casual yeah I took that away is he appeared but what I liked about him he's quick. You I'm pretentious. Backed candidate. And just you know between Nike can market guys. You could have appear to go to the neighbor or are there for me in cap and he would say yeah I assume that this guy he destruct being attacked and I got. US they are good relationship with Jerry Richardson of all the journalists that I know in town you had to say healthier relationship bow with him and had have been invited places and other people had not been invited in. That is all you know I don't would not expect you to. Just Jerry Richardson on the that your style anyway com. But you had to think it was a new days. And Andy you were you were texting and know that it is tempered today didn't seem to be hiding anything and we kind of walked away knowing that. Other stadiums in for a redo in the practice facilities are probably going to be a changed and moved. Yeah yeah I mean you'd a lecture I mean. I thought the way it ended was unfortunate and it was unfortunate because Yankee crater that scenario yeah. It's really moody is beat. And you're arguably want the group in Newark and can't intimidate people. Content the Smart money is step brass and owned team on the need he inherently gonna attract attention. I don't think he is just same dynamic as would geriatric cat earns just. A looser. You're going to in not even sent a couple of them to jump out what was he he he said he wants him to be like a family. And if anybody has a problem. Anybody can talk anybody. Quick which I live in and I think. It himself if I may I do some stupid do didn't that you'll have avenues for that too. Yeah I like that and he also were asked. What made was the biggest problem facing after targeted. It out later contrived issue. You can Niedermayer handsome. That's about. Concussion and about repeated. Head trauma and Chichi. And widgets which is a major problem any sport in which you. I think you can has suffered multiple. I'm likely to suffer that's series a concussion itself you know that would that would fraction here coming. Chi chi is dangerous and there was a pretty recognize that soccer and just do nothing he sat there that I don't think any particular founder sentenced and he. There are gonna build elements and brightness saying that for pots but of course you're gonna build a practice facility. And you know that they'll land on which you their crack troops now are located is. They can you put that two different views and what we'll do was so filled place somewhere. And just they induced by the sport that is where the chart ordered our I think it's gonna attract development now also I think itself you know. If they they have he has no ties to Wofford. You want to kind of you mallet and the University of Pittsburgh that's too far. Two car wiggles the great. Think he's gonna I would guess you don't yank them out of waltrip and you know port no matter what players say they would rather stay Charl and read this stay in hotel where they knew their family. Whether or not they Andorra too. Sportswriters in which you're gonna marry outpouring we ought to make sacrifices. And I think that you know I think it's a little more sooner or later they're gonna move training camp appear when they go back and for so. I thought one of the really interesting moments and I would be I I would hope that the national media would pick up on this considering that via an anthem and the National Anthem and so on has been so contentious with the NFL and such a such a big. Focal point when he was asked on players expressing their opinions even ones that may. Not be in out of step with this he cited the pledge of allegiance and as said on I think three different times and liberty and justice for all. And I thought that told you just about as much as you needed to know about this guy. It's funny to say that that jumped out because he's it would street are. A name and then just an emphasis was on pearl. And I thought that was really impressive the way is bad and block access coming. You walk daughter that they can quote there is pretty Coca. New day in Charlotte and and an owner that seems to be somewhat accessible. Not even the Charlotte hornets can say that wonder if this fellow bill bring no Michael a little bit further into the community maybe not. I think Michael musik his face and you know terror. Which is fine and I believed there's only one Michael Jordan I don't think anybody disputes that. Now and as being media wouldn't change spectator which. You know tepper. Would you have introductory press conference everybody. I mean every even mean guys. But that's the temple was Saturday out of it doesn't separate him and I thought who saw it will revert today real guy. And like at that I want I was impressed are brought to be there and it was just eight. I had I would not Atalanta whistle down mayor in a company so he just just to be around. He talked about Ron Rivera he talked about to curtain ohrnberger. You didn't talk about Marty tourney. Think Marty standing on the edge of a building tonight. Now Vietnam Marty knows that this guy in Marty its second but if that's where it's my job perk up your people back to her and serious about it that it. Better. I think market strong public I think he repair program coupons and it was. Marty who like their car repaired at this guy should be Eric coach. I think he curator. I just think the football operations in good shape and I think you know he's back and be out missing camp. Let's let's talk about your release. Yeah in their effort that. But I'd be thinking obviously there's going to be some. Changes made the business side felt that extent but I think there's a lot of people that could end up. You need somebody to run it I mean Danny Morrissey responds with that's like people and that building he was really universally respected yeah we don't know exactly why he. The last but I. I don't think it had to do with scandal personally I don't want I don't think it gets. It was done and thanks but still he would he would have he'd be a great with pepper in the temperature gonna have people we trust in UN trucks. The business operation of that team player. Have a bitch he's got whoever the new president is but she's got a steal her background just have a feeling than you know what that's not all bad that's a pretty impressive franchise the it's been run out there for a long long time hey good to talk gee I appreciate your time today. Howard Mann and Arabic term there he met Tom Sorensen. And so that kind of kills the glam it does van berg Sorenson Fowler and Rivera. Big day in Charlotte the Carolina Panthers. Oh sure of the Jabber stories big went through. Charles finally got to Brooks sandwich just was Doran is there a little more and nobody PG newsroom on no kidding that's what took him so. A lot it will well I don't know but is his dear wife had a birthday Monday and stature she wanted to go was to Brooks Edwards shells sir Charles took earlier will find nobody thinks mountain. Or better be a positive review or he'll be worried that if Lindsay in the morning. FitzGerald Reinemund and a bit over or under right out of although I already know the hall the building it on that totally lose it. So. Well attention Charles goes to Brooks Elson you're doing dirty restaurant Thursday night one restaurant to locations both Lowe's stores you have one restaurant that Dennis has got to kind of a double black guy plus a couple of restaurants in South Carolina there early bond to Enron account oh good well. I don't go to the eliminate all of your possibilities for the weekend chat. And the cave rescue it's over everybody safe now it was. There's the minors and chill was it chilly yeah now knew where the whole world kind of focus is dead man. And you you know the outcome could either go good or bad and and it turned out so well in both cases. Have a lot of people praying for those kids it was interest in me learn today that they gave them some. Some tranquilizers to calm them because just think he would freak out you're going into a cave. And parts that is just a room full of water and you've got to scuba dive with two experienced divers witty but you never scuba dive before and you're just to kids so. Wow it's just remarkable. But in what got them out it was an eight or nine year our ordeal we can't do like two and a half miles isn't just this in just a bonus when you walk I'm turning well shepherd Tuesday is exactly where it turned out to be in his press conference today I think everybody sees it as a breath of fresh air I don't know we certainly know that it's a new do it day for the Carolina Panthers and I I didn't know what to expect from the press conference today but. The last question of the day came from Scott Fowler we know we're stuck with the statue but he was pretty open about practice facilities and redo is on the stadium enough. AB he broke some pretty solid ground today. Danny wants gambling it's stadium which of course would require a state law and I it but you know John I've been thinking about something. He he was asked and you know do you wanna use tax money furthest from the stadium and for the team and he was pretty candid that he said yes but he was very different than Jerry Richards and he said what I wanted to do was have development that is a win win for both me and the taxpayers and it pays off and we're just sharing tax revenue. Now compare that to Richardson who's several years ago insistent on a closed meeting with the City Council which to this day I think was an illegal closed meeting. And behind closed doors he said look I can pay for these stadium renovations on my credit card belied while wanna do that you need to pay oh. A City Council and Johnny grant sought I mean they've they've spent the last five months trying to figure out how to get this guy money if and when he asked for you'd be an idiot not to take it. Yeah I'm he had that's going to be exciting to see what he asked foreign quit and but he sure has his eye on some development there. At the practice fields were the team practices now I think he was to develop that into something that won't make money and then move the practice facility is South Carolina and make money there. Now well. It seemed to be pretty good it does it make any money doing all right I gather up your stuff all right I head over to the main studio and royal keep the door open for you so while Marco garrison Charlotte have six which comes up in no just a few minutes technically following. The Essex caucus. Pop quiz according to science. Which of these is lazy habits is good for you. Daydreaming. Being messy. Georgian TJ are split. They both are. It's a trick question. Daydreaming according to behavioral scientist at Drexel in northwestern university's daydreaming of one of the most effective ways to turn on your right brain. And that's the hemisphere responsible for creative insight the kind of thinking that brings about sudden off cost solutions to problems. In the and other words daydreaming and make you a better problem solver. Just don't use this as an excuse to daydream all day long. Being messy. Now if you go to an in my desk can you compare that to. Well I'm trying to think he would be out again it is and it provides organized clutter in my wall Liz. Out of that out of out of the outrageous you know. Anyway if you have a pile of bills laying on your kitchen counter Lieberman. According to a professor doctor Eric Abrams and of Columbia Business School. Most people work faster and more efficiently when there's a little messed around and when you're used to a little mass say you'd then decide to get organized well you might forget where you put. And that's my deal if you go to my office of the house. They don't look necessarily organized demean you know I dated someone but. But if I clean that up I'll never find anything again I know where everything is. Clumsily left. So if you're I used to seeing your bills sitting on the a kitchen counter and you decide to file them away you might have trouble remembering their new location. Which means that you could maybe start daydreaming and that would turn on the right side your brain and you would know the miracle find them don't forget today is July the tenth. So it's cal appreciation days. And if you address up an account costume or any sort of cal apparel. Up until 7 o'clock tonight I think you get like free chicken sandwich from the life. Garrisons looking at me like right now so long now you tell me when I've got an hour ago and here I am with my cal costume in my car nowhere to go so. Here it's next Charlotte at six all seed tomorrow at three Hancock Charles most beloved on here from from assuring.
